Chiropractic Adjustments Support Whole Body Health
A car accident injury, slip and fall, or natural wear and tear over time can all cause spinal misalignments. When the spine is out of alignment, a herniated or slipped disc may compress nearby nerves, triggering pain. As long as this compression persists, so the pain will also persist. This is why medication has only limited effectiveness when it comes to managing pain. A misaligned spine also increases the risk for injury and illness. Drugs work by temporarily numbing pain signals in the brain; once the medication wears off, the pain will return. Chiropractic care is a different form of pain management; spinal adjustments target the underlying cause for pain and correct the mechanical misalignment. This is why our treatments are effective even when medication or surgery fails to work.
During your first visit, Dr. Stratton will use advanced diagnostic techniques to precisely identify any subluxations in your spine. He will then create a custom treatment plan to correct these misalignments. For example, if a herniated disc compresses the sciatic nerve, you may suffer from radiating or numbing pain in the legs, buttocks and lower back. This condition, known as sciatica, is best corrected by restoring proper alignment to the spine. Chiropractic adjustments create space in the spine for the vertebra to return to their proper position. This helps relieve a herniated disc’s pressure on nearby nerves, providing long-term pain relief without the need for medication.
In addition to chiropractic adjustments, our chiropractor may also recommend complementary therapies that enhance pain relief and speed the injury rehabilitation process. Corrective exercises, for example, can help restore mobility to the body after an injury, bring balance back to the musculoskeletal system.
Physiotherapy treatments complement and enhance the healing effects of chiropractic care. Class IV laser therapy, for example, promotes internal healing for injured muscle tissue, while also reducing inflammation. Our physiotherapy treatments also include muscle stimulation, far infrared therapy and cryotherapy. These treatments unlock the body’s natural ability to heal and relieve pain.
At Advanced Chiropractic Wellness Center, our chiropractic team follows a “whole body” philosophy to treatment. This means that we not only help our patients heal following a specific injury, but also help optimize their overall health. Our lifestyle advice and nutritional supplements are in important part of this process. We can help you replace bad habits with good ones, embracing a healthy, active lifestyle.
